I am Principal Researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and member of the Board of IPP – Instituto Políticas Públicas.

My research interests include the role of leaders in electoral behavior, political parties and institutions.  I have published articles on these topics in several journals, including Electoral Studies, European Journal of Political Research, Political Research Quarterly, Democratization, South European Society and Politics as well as books both in Portuguese and in English.
